Two of my favourite quotes on travel are: “The most important reason for going from one place to another is to see what's in between" (The Phantom Tollbooth), and “Some beautiful paths can't be discovered without getting lost” (Erol I felt the same when I first started. Your goals will still be there waiting for you, and you will have a lot of fun in the process of arriving if you allow yourself to be diverted and discover new places and people with their stories en route. This is a game where it pays not to constantly be in a hurry to level or get to the next destination/area. And yes, some quests and diversions may seem trivial, but they all add to the immersion and lore of the game, along with some unexpected rewards. Yes, it's easy to get sidetracked from your current goal, but for at least for a first character the great thing is that all these quests lead to exploration which reveals so much stuff you would never have even realised existed. Personally I love the vast amount of quests that are available everywhere you go. But there are guides out there that list skill point quests and such.
The only tricky part is knowing which quests start a questline that 'should' be done.
